This special meeting will feature a guest, the Director of LGBTQ+ Medicine at Denver Health. She will talk to us a little about what is going on behind the scenes in Colorado hospitals and share with us her advice and resources for those who are currently or will be navigating medical options in the near future. She will also listen to the struggles we are facing with compassion and share what she learns from us as she advocates for a return of GAC for minors.
GenDEN groups provide a safe and welcoming space for families with gender-expansive children. While the primary focus is on supporting gender-diverse children from preschool through middle school, families with children of all ages are always welcome to join. Siblings are also encouraged to attend!
How do GenDEN Support Groups work?
Parents and caregivers meet separately from the children participating in an unstructured, open discussion where they can share experiences, ask questions, and exchange resources. This is a supportive environment designed to help parents connect with others facing similar challenges. The group is facilitated by parents of transgender children, not by licensed psychologists or social workers.
While parents meet, the children engage in supervised activities like crafts, games, and free play in a nearby space. There are no formal discussions about gender identity; the goal is simply for the kids to have fun and feel confident being their authentic selves.
